Abstract

Electric Vehicles (EV) are recommended in many countries owing to its economic and environmental benefits. The charging demands posed by EVs keep increasing day by day and the same could not be met by existing charging infrastructures. Though shared charging schemes exist, it is crucial to ensure the trustworthiness of the participating entities. Several systems employing advanced computing techniques were proposed in the past for effective EV charging. This review paper will provide an overview of various electric vehicle charging schemes, their characteristics, limitations and management. Further, this review will cover recent secure computing and blockchain based approaches deployed in the arena of EV charging management.
